yeah, that's how long it's been since i updated my lj. that's a really long time. and surprise! surprise! *shockhorror* a lot of stuff has happened. let's review

- i moved into a house in red hook, ny. it's the first house i've ever lived in.

- i worked at waldenbooks in the hudson valley mall for exactly one week before i was promoted from part-time bookseller to full-time key holder and senior bookseller. trust me, in the book-retail world, that's...like *blinkblink* a big deal...and stuff. anyway, i loved working at the bookstore! my boss was awesome, my co-workers were awesome, the books were cheap and life was awesome! (well, actually, life sucked, but i still loved my job) we found out our store was closing exactly one week before christmas, and told that we weren't allowed to tell our customers until after the holiday rush, we didn't want to upset our customers or our sales. it was our little store against the big bad book company, and we lost. we spent our last days cleaning the store and rocking out to the obnoxiously loud eclectic mix of music that we endlessly unleashed on the food court and the rest of the mall. i stayed until the last day, and we all cried together.

- i worked for a chiropractor. reality was, waldenbooks wasn't paying the bills and the bills needed to get paid. it was pure luck that i happened upon an opportunity to work part-time in a small chiropractic office, a sure thing. i started training on my first day. i worked doing ultrasound massage therapy and other office work as *ahem ahem* a chiropractic technician! it was exciting! riveting! fresh and new! actually, it was terribly boring, but i got free chiro. then i got promoted and i became the secretary/assistant office manager-type person...and that's when things got bad...work was literally making me ill...it had taken over my life. my office manager handed in her notice 5 weeks before i left, her last day was 3 weeks before mine. chaos ensued. when i left, i cried.

- i learned that while it is possible to work two full-time jobs, 7 days a week with no time off...you really, really really don't want to. no, trust me.

- i made some amazing friends.

- i made the final decision to move to san francisco, ca in the fall to attend graduate school.

- i managed to sprain both my ankles in the course of a week. interestingly enough, i was not doing anything stupid, foolish or dangerous when i was injured.

...and...

- i got engaged

sooo....

that's the past 38 weeks in a nutshell. nice to be back.

my birthday is in 4 days! i'm gonna be 22 years old. wow. i don't really know how i feel about that right now, but moving on for a moment, past the whining, that is.

i saw the indigo girls on friday!!!

it was completely and utterly amazing! cate picked me up at my dorm and we drove to poughkeepsie, listening to fab music all the while, of course. we discussed the songs that we wanted to hear that night.

my choices - starkville, tether, shame on you, ozilline
cate's choices - ozilline, tether, burn all the letters (even though we knew it was a stretch)

we picked up our fab tickets and took our chances at the milanese restaurant as it started to snow. we ate and drank ourselves silly for the next 2 hours, the meal concluding with a chocolate delight that blew my mind...picture a dark chocolate torte filled with melted nutella served with vanilla bean gelato, raspberry puree, whipped cream and candied walnuts...i seriously almost panty splashed myself right there in the restaurant! needless to say, our dinner was fantastic! with our bellies full and giddy as all hell, we ventured over to the beautiful, beautiful Bardavon. it was close to the end of the opening act when we arrived and were seated...

fifth row + center is not a joke!

i could have fainted dead away right there...or peed my pants, really, i was dangerously close to doing both! after cheering for the opening act and impatiently waiting for the intermission to end, there they were! SO CLOSE! not to mention the fact that they played *ahem ahem*
the most amazing set ever...

devotion
get out the map
dairy queen
shame on you*
leaving
it's alright
yield
fill it up again
go
mystery
starkville*
hammer and a nail
land of canaan
power of two
ozilline**
closer to fine
moment of forgiveness
galileo

encore...
trouble
tether**
midnight train to georgia

ummm, can we say ?!@$#*&!#%!&#$%!@?!...uhhhh...yeah. i can't believe they played tether AND trouble AND starkville AND devotion AND leaving and and and!!!!!! they played all my songs! it was so amazing, so amazing! it was, seriously, one of the best birthday presents i ever could have hoped for ever!

then, cate and i drove home. it had stopped snowing. we rocked out some fabulously horrible music(...and some kelly clarkson...shhh!) and arrived home, safe and sound, giddy as ever. my heart was singing.

amy and emily, i love you. i will love you for all time. thank you for being the most amazing people in all of existence...well, almost...

ps - i got a fab new IG shirt...pics soon to come...

on saturday i got to go pumpkin and apple picking with laura and her little sister, kate. i was THE MOST excited!!! no, seriously, i think i was the most excited. even more than kate! we piled into laura's car and drove to greig farm a few miles away. not knowing exactly where to go, our first stop was the main farm. i bought lots of fabulous treats from The Grey Mouse Farm that they had, since my mom loves it and some biscotti for myself. organic dark chocolate orange biscotti are deliciously orgasmic, by the way, in case you didn't know! so, there was biscotti...

AND GOATS!

AND PUMPKINS!

AND APPLES!

cutie kids!
one black...

one brown...

and kate & laura!

the hunt for the "perfect pumpkin"

and then we drove over to the apple orchard to pick some apples. we didn't have a bag, so i just used my sweatshirt like an apron and stuck apples in my pockets.

my phone rang at one point and it was allie! while chatting with allie, i decided i needed a little snack, so i turned around and picked one!

then laura found this HUGE apple! SEE!

and then i found the most perfect apple! after winding my way around lots of branches and reaching and reaching and reaching...

the cutest apple ever, with a little green leaf!

ps - i was not making this face on purpose, i was pointing to the little green leaf...i am not really that cute in real life. shut up. i hate you. stop it. argh!
pps - if you're awesome, you've already noticed my most coolest NOLOSE trucker hat

it's raining in new york. pouring, as a matter of fact. yup. here. in new york. why am i in new york? because I AM NOT IN CALIFORNIA! I AM NOT IN SAN FRANCISCO! nope nope BARD COLLEGE...i'm sorry for that offensive use of caps and bold font styling...

that's right, i am in new york. i am miserable. it is raining. hard. well, maybe not miserable. but grossly unhappy. i hate this whole chain of events. and it's been raining for over 24 hours straight. cold, cold rain that makes your toes freeze. i've been wearing socks in bed. i never wear socks in bed. ever. right now i am wearing so many layers and i still feel a bit cool. i love that feeling...

i'm wearing all blue. how fitting.

more later...i think...i hope...there's too much to say...
